Petroleum is the base, and chemicals like benzene, formaldehyde, and toluene are used as additives. The EPA classifies these additives as harmful air pollutants.

They contain long chains of compounds called per- and poly-fluoroalkyl (PFAs), which are difficult to break down. This means they linger in the environment longer than any other organic compounds.

The organization tests every part of the stroller separately for the same chemicals to ensure they’re free of toxins. Being the global standard for product safety, OEKO-Tex Standard 100 is reviewed every year. This means manufacturers must update their certification every year.
